SUMMER GETAWAY PROMOTIONS

Visit Greater Palm Springs will transition from Spring Getaway marketing to our Summer Getaways campaign in May. The summer campaign includes a variety of destination and vacation rental–specific marketing across television, digital, social media, and public relations in our drive "getaway" markets. 

Tips for leveraging our summer marketing campaign:

  • Create or update your listing on VisitGreaterPalmSprings.com: Booking windows for summer tend to be shorter, so update your listing with summer-focused text and images.
  • Leverage local activities: Stay current on summer events and attractions and utilize them in your descriptions. Find our full event calendar at visitgreaterpalmsprings.com/events
  • Post summer offers to gain more exposure: Travelers continue to be price-conscious and are looking for value this summer. Log in at MyGreaterPS.com to post your special offers and packages.

2024 Vrbo Campaign

In 2023, Visit Greater Palm Springs partnered with Vrbo to deploy a custom summer "pool floatie" campaign that generated $17.5M in gross bookings.

Additionally, a custom Greater Palm Springs landing page supported by digital ads runs on Vrbo's platform year-round. Results and examples can be found on MyGreaterPS.com in the Marketing Updates section under "Vacation Rentals."  

Visit Greater Palm Springs will partner with Vrbo on another fun and engaging summer campaign for 2024. Check out Vrbo's '24 Unpack Travel Trends for tips and inspiration for attracting guests. 

SUPPORTING SENSIBLE REGULATIONS

Short-term rental restrictions and bans continue to be a topic of conversation across the country. Recent headlines from Hawaii and Oceanside, CA are just a couple of examples.

Airbnb has launched new initiatives to support sensible rental policies for renters and has also formed the Airbnb Housing Council, which “convenes real estate experts, elected officials, and academic institutions” to mitigate the economic crises that renters and homeowners face.

Locally, Visit Greater Palm Springs has launched One Coachella Valley to rally local support by educating community members about how essential STVRs are to maintaining their quality of life and the opportunities they create. Residents have also been provided with Good Neighbor Guides, city hotline numbers, and other resources to promote responsible renting.

This month, One Coachella Valley was a proud sponsor of the Coachella Valley Business Conference & Economic Forecast and the County of Riverside’s 2024 Student of the Year Award.

MARCH TRENDS

For the month of March 2024, paid guest occupancy in vacation rental homes was 67.1% compared to 70.5% in 2023 and 67.0% in 2019. 

 

ADR for March 2024 was $453 up from $448 in 2023, and up from $299 in 2019.

 

Overall supply of available short-term rentals in the Coachella Valley was up 7% in March 2024 compared to March 2023.

Gathering beneficial guest insights with data tools, using automation to advertise on multiple platforms, and integrating property management software are ways to market more effectively, streamline operations, and enhance guests’ experiences.
